Les Lettres Persanes - Charles-Louis de Montesquieu 1721 Formed over thirty years ago, London Baroque enjoys the position of being one of the most experienced and longlived baroque chamber groups around. They have performed in most of the major European festivals and tour the world regularly. London Baroque continue to give vital and enriching performances with all the technical perfection and musical maturity their public has come to expect. Their themed programmes have long captivated audiences and their latest venture, ‘Les Letters Persanes’ is based around the writings of Charles-Louis de Montesquieu. His amusing but scandalous letters became popular when, in 1751, they were put on the Vatican’s index of banned books! ‘’…the performances were immaculately controlled, at all times a delight to the ear-supple, flexible playing which touched the heights of virtuosity and the depths of emotion.’’ Financial Times |
